I'm developing a video conferencing app with red5 ( 0.6rc4 ) and I"ve noticed an odd issue. When talking to a friend overseas, I noticed the latency of red5 was 1000ms+ yet the latency of skype was only ~130ms. Any ideas why this is the case? We were both on 10mbit+ connections with no congestion problems.I haven't noticed the same thing with connections to people in the same city as me so I was wondering if latency in connecting to the server was somehow carrying over into latency in the transmission of published streams? Is there buffering that is based on RTT? In any case, skype was quite usable but red5 was quite unusable. Strange! - Aaron
