Hello,
I found Red5 quiet fascinating. But I couldn't get the whole picture of how it
works. I read tutorials. I have good Java skills, and almost no Flesh or
ActionScript knowledge.
As far as I understood there are several things which Red5 can do:

1. it implements real time messaging protocol (RTMP) so it can stream
video/audio, which is probably the main purpose of the Red5
2. it works with shared objects (SO)

Client of Red5 is meant to be a Flesh Player and nothing else can be as for now.

Red5 can be compiled to JAR and be added to my own WAR, or can be WAR by itself
and I can add my code to it.

For streaming video/audio to both ways (from server and from client) everything
is ready, all I need is to change existing Flesh clients to fit my custom needs
or create a new one. Probably I should add few things to Java/Server side to
complete my custom requirements.

Please correct me or add more info for those statements.
Also, I have few general questions:

Flesh is a commercial product. I don't have any Flesh IDE. How can I create
clients for Red5? Should I buy something from Adobe in order to create clients
for Red5? Or there are some open source or free products? What is the best?

I cannot find any information of how SO works. What purpose it serves. Could
you explain please, or point me to some documentation?

Thank you,
Gene
