AP,

What version of RED5 are you using?

I have a flex 2 serverstream app that runs without a reporting of empty
buffer..

I am running the latest version from the trunk.

Have you tried updating to the latest trunk version?

However, I am running RED5 in Tomcat, but that should not have any bearing
on your problem.

Hi all,

i am new to the list, so please bare with me if i look for things
considered common knowledge.

i have spent the last days trying to get a serverstream working (tv-like
application). after some initial hickups (on my side), it is basically
working. but one thing i could not solve is frequent rebuffering when
playing the stream. it seems to me that the server is not delivering
enought data to keep the buffer filled.

i dabbled a bit with the bandwidth controls on the server, but this did
not make any differences. i un-commented the serverstream stuff in the
oflademo, same thing. i tried to increase the client netstream buffer
size on the NetStream.Buffer.Full event (a suggestion somewhere on the
adobe site) - no change.

i noticed some bug reports which seem to expose the same problem, but
none of them has been confirmed or solved.

i run red5 on a linux machine with java 1.5, using a flex client to
access the server. you can view the current results of my efforts here:
http://dev.ikbis.com:5080/sofa/sofa_player.swf

many of the clips in the playlist are quite short, sometimes even in the
range of the netstream buffer length, so i am hesitant to increase it
more (its at 2 seconds now). you will see that its buffering 2 seconds,
start playing, and then the buffer length slowly decreases until it
dries out, causing a complete rebuffering.

the player logs
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Empty
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Full
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Empty
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Full
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Empty
NetStatus status: NetStream.Buffer.Full

i can provide code, logs, whatever if needed.

please, if anyone has some ideas about that, share it with me.

thanks,

andi
