Real Madrid are set to persist with their superstar head-hunting policy in the summer, but David Beckham is not in their plans.
The European champions are expected to add to their multi-talented squad again and will make another major move into the transfer market armed with the cash generated by their exploits in this season's Champions League. AC Milan's Andrei Shevchenko is a possible target, while Joaquin of Real Betis could also come into the equation, but Beckham is off limits. The Manchester United midfielder and England captain would probably cost more than £30million and even Madrid would baulk at paying such a fee given the current slump in the transfer market. "I have heard a lot about this recently but I don't want to raise hopes about signing Beckham and then see he can't come here," said Real president Florentino Perez on radio station Cadena Cope. "He is a great player but we will not sign everyone on the market." ------------------------ Yahoo!
