So you have a site that is currently written using ASP.NET, you are migrating the site to CMS and then publishing the site to LiveServer, but you still want to include ASP.NET code in your site? The first question I would ask is why are you publishing to LiveServer? What LiveServer functionality are you trying to take advantage of?
But if you've already thought about that and determined that this configuration makes sense as a solution for your requirements. You may not need application portal or external dynamics at all. Things like polls and email a friend functionality are usually very modular.
