What exactly is the XML template you are referring to? The one that contains navigation manager or that page template that calls the navigation manager? Also, if I mix tags like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> and other html tags with render tags, it reddot doesn't create the right result.
