Ah sorry, should've specified: it's filesystem-based. BUT, I did an experiment where I moved one file from one folder to another (in the filesystem) and the Asset Manager lost the attributes for that file, and 'forgot' that it was even in use. When I finally put the file back to its original location, even after using the 'Update Asset Manager' facility, the page where the file was used failed to publish correctly -- file details were completely missing, and the only thing I could do was delete the file and re-upload it via the Asset Manager. So all in all, I decided that it was a very bad idea to manually move files around in the filesystem! But I'll be very happy to be proved wrong if somebody has a clever way of doing this :o)
