Doesn't sound like a too big project for RedDot. How is the navigation built? Navigation Manager or the older ASP list/ container approach? Navigation Manager is meant to be faster.
How much data gets published each time? How big are the Asset Manager folder? And what does the publishing report say? The latest version of RedDot 9 and all versions in 10 are using the new .NET based PageBuilder responsible for publishing. Publishing is meant to be 3-5 times faster with this new component. And can you run a test publish into a local folder on the CMS machine to see how long it takes?
