PageBuilderPerformance is likely the best way to see the difference in how long a page takes to generate. Set it to DEBUG. Look for the log line that says "Finishing Executing. Field "Elapsed" contains total time elapsed for this request.". Use the time specified (in seconds) to compare the same page generated with and without your change.
