Well, I cant speak for anyone else, but I find the list only
partially useful. A long while back I asked what the exact
purpose of the list was for and got an answer to the effect that
the list is for people doing development, coding _OF_ Red Hat,
such as anaconda mods, and other dist specific programming
issues, as well as Linux programming development. That is the
crux of it anyways. I don't know if that is truely the lists
purpose, but general "I cant get XYZ to work after installing
Guinness" type questions are annoying. I sort mail into folders
based on the list name. Having a devel list that has
zoot/guinness questions posted as 80% of the list content makes
this logical list naming and mail filtering meaningless.
I don't mind helping people at all (as anyone on zoot/guinness
lists is quite aware), however I think a lot of the questions
should be asked in the right place. I'm not bitching though..
occasional OT posts are a fact of life, and ok, but when it is
80% OT traffic, the list is not doing its job IMHO, and as such
may cause useful on-topic posters to leave due to poor S/N.
