I've had a persistent problem with the Bru "pro" version tape backup software.
The SCSI bus is controlled by a 2940 Adaptec card, and disk drives on the
bus behave nicely (and have for several months). This is a RedHat 4.2
system 2.0.30 with some upgrades.
When I try to do a fullbru with BRU, I get the following verbose SCSI
messages in the log:
Jun 25 10:56:51 Goober kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid
4940638, scsi0, channel 0, id 6, lun 0 Rezero Unit 00 00 00 00 00

Jun 25 10:57:10 Goober kernel: scsi0: Target 2, channel A, now synchronous
at 10.0MHz, offset 15.
What is weird is that BRU seems to execute most of the time, but then hangs
right before the read/verify portion of the backup.
Anyone have *any* ideas on where to go from here? The BRU folks at
www.estinc.com say this is a hardware or driver problem. Could be, though
it is curious that very busy disk drives on the bus aren't having any
trouble. Termination is correct, nice cable, etc etc.
Thanks for any pointers.
Chris
