Please do not reboot. Press ctrl-alt-backspace this will talk you out
of X-Windows. Try this:
# cp /etc/X11/XF86Config ~
# Get the Xfree86-SVGA*.rpm from any where you like.
# rpm -i Xfree86-SVGA*
# Xconfigurator --expert
pick svga driver.
then pick generic monitor
don't probe
1 Meg
No clock
skip
move to "640*480" press space
press F12
Then try startx
If this does not work send your /var/log/Xerrors
and your /root/XF86Config to the list
