After I had upgraded my kernel to 2.0.34 using rpm, upon reboot (but was
not able to compile the new kernel-see my previous post please) my NIC is
not being recognized. There isn't that mention of Mr. Becker at nasa and
of my card, "3Com....boomerang...etc, etc..".
I use a dhcpcd to manage my IP for me since I'm assigned a dynamic one
from my ISP, and all the files relating to it are kosher since they were
not touched.
Has anyone encountered this problem at all when after upgrading the
kernel, their ethernet card wasn't being recognized? Before the upgrade,
I was using 2.0.31 and upon installation of Redhat5.0, it was recognized
and I was able to gain net access right away.
My "ifconfig" only shows the localhost and when I ping it, I get no
response of output at all. I'd very much appreciate any help in this, as
I desperately need the online capabilities of my linuxbox. Thank you in
advance!
With Best,
Steve
