Dear Fellow List Mebers,

I just upgraded my kernel from 3.0.31 to 3.0.34. I was having problems
trying to compile it and after looking at the error message, it was
pointed out to me by Borek, who is on the list, that I needed to install
the bin86 package. So, I was trying to mount my Redhat5.0 CD with the
"mount -t iso9660 -r /dev/cdrom /mnt" command and I got this error
message:

mount:fs iso9660 not supported by this kernel

Can someone please tell me if they ran into similar problems with the new
kernel? With 3.0.31, there were no problems at all in mounting the RH5.0
CD, and why now and with the new kernel?

As well, I have a couple of other problems since upgrading (but have not
compiled yet, although it should't make a difference). When I boot up my
computer, it does not recognize my ethernet card at all. There's no
mention of the "vortex boomerang...etc...etc...Donald Becker...etc..".
Again, the older kernel had no problems whatsoever at all and why now???

The last problem is that I can't start my X, as root or as non-root users.
The error message given is:

xinit:Can't connect to X server

Are you supposed to have all these problems when upgrading to a new
kernel? I've upgraded my XFree86 to 3.3.2 and I've had no problems with
it at all, but with the kernel upgrade, I can't use it.

I would very very much appreciate some help in this matter.

With Best,

Steve
