I discovered that /etc/shadow was preinstalled when i was used to
etc/shadow from solaris 2 .x and wanted to install it on red hat
wondering wy it was not there. Was having some fun installing:'(
then just tried as per 'SHADOWING RED HAT' and presto it was done.
Real great stuff!
