Another possibility would be to make the ppp scripts world
readable/executable. Of course, this creates a big security hole,
allowing anyone with access to your machine to bring the ppp link up or
down (and possibly allowing anyone to see your password if you do a script
login to your ppp server).
A better solution would be to create some suid wrappers only readable by
you, or a particular group. I think the ppp howto actually has some
information about this.
