I apologise if you have seen this on rpm-list already but I did not
get any response there.

I have various directories mounted over NFS to our server, notably
/usr/doc. Whenever I upgrade rpms on the server and then on our other
machines rpm complains that the docs cannot be removed because they
have been already by the upgrade on the server.

Is there any way of telling rpm not to try to upgrade files in certain
directories? Kirk Bauer, author of AutoRPM suggested to me that there
is a netpath (or some such command) which can be placed in the rpmrc
file but I can find no documentation on this.

If there is a way of doing this what would have to be done to make it
effective during an upgrade from RH4.2 to RH5.0? This is particularly
important because I am low on disk space on some of the machines and
an upgrade then runs out of disk space when all the updated docs are
installed.

Thanks for any help,
Simon
