In NIS server u have to define automount maps. For example u have all user home directories on X m/c. Share that path by editing /etc/exports Then edit the maps at NIS server like /etc/auto.direct, /etc/auto_home & /etc/auto.master That's it while booting client it will mount user home directory automatically..
