After having an uptime of a couple of days Redhat 7.2 started to slow down. I
have it installed on an IBM think pad. For networking i have a linksys
wireless card installed.
On running top i saw that the process X was consuming 90+% of CPU time.
I watched this for a couple of hours but nothing changed. So i decided to
reboot.
On rebooting everything was fine for a couple of hours. After which clients
lost network access. I could not even ssh into the box remotely. On running
top on the machine locally i saw that removeheaders, removeservice processed
both consuming 90% of the cpu time.
Since there was no network access to the box i decided to restart PCMCIA.
Everything was fine for an hour and the problem started again. I Lost network
connectivity and the hard disk was cranking along. On running du i see that
/tmp/Logwatch.xxx in excess of 175 MB.
Since i am relatively new on Redhat, I need help debugging this problem. Any
help from the community will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
--Kapil
