First, are both machines (client and server) behind the router? If so,
take a look at your /var/log/maillog file. See if there is an error in
there explaining it. One possible issue could be that your sendmail
server doesn't know who you are. By default sendmail isn't going to
relay for anyone. Try putting an entry in your /etc/hosts file with your
Outlook machine's IP address there and a hostname. This will likely
clear it up. But I reserve the right be mistaken. If this doesn't work,
look at the maillog file immediately after the failure. The info will be
at the bottom so you can: tail /var/log/maillog and see what's going on.
