Yes. The easiest way is with coax (10base2) but if you want to do it with
twisted pair (10baseT) you can. But you must get a special cable (a
"crossover" cable) which allows this to happen.

I'm not familiar with Token Ring. It may or may not be able to work in a
direct-connect mode.

Yes, assuming that the netmask, etc. are all compatible. In the case of a
point to point link, however, you can use a "host route" instead of
setting up an actual valid network segment.
