[about StarOffice]

Loaded it and RH8 refuses to recognize it in the menu structure. The only way I can open it is to go to my Home folder and find a SO6 document to open. I have tried multiple suggestions from here and the Psyche list (including unloading and reloading SO6 to no avail). I tried to remove SO5.2 but pieces of it were left scattered across the HDD.

Right-click on the panel and create a new Launcher/Shortcut with the command:

soffice

When I installed OpenOffice 1.0 on my RH72/GNOME1.4 box, it added itself to my panel Favorites menu.

I don't use graphical mail clients anymore, because I find I can process mail a lot faster by keeping my hands on the keyboard. The console-based clients tend to have better support for keybaord shortcuts. Mutt in particular allows me to add and change keybaord shortcuts to get it to work the way that I like to work. When I have to work with GUI clients at work, I find it to be a pain. Mozilla is just barely bearable.
