Note that the kernel 2.4 series only has an ipchains compatability module which does not have the full functionality of the kernel 2.2 ipchains. If you have elaborate scripts that have been working on kernel 2.2 then it behooves you to test their functionality on kernel 2.4 before implementation. However, I echo the others' advice that moving your scripts to iptables is the best course of action.
