I have installed the latest linux RedHat 9. On standard consoles (tty1, etc...) I can see only 8 foreground colors and not 16 colors (as typical). In practice, the high intensity attribute is not handled ! Trying to do, for example, echo -e "\033[1;31mSAMPLE" results in a dark-red color text (it should be light-red). Now, this is not a problem related to my specific video card or my configuration, because other my friends and job colleagues have the same problem with a RedHat 9. So, I would like to understand why this happens and how to resolve this problem. Thanks.
