Hello, we recently upgrade a quad processor apache web server from 7.2 to 9. since we have noticed a significant loss of performance. Pages that were taking 1-2 seconds to generate are now taking 2-4 seconds. Has anyone else noticed this or is it related to apache 2 vs 1?
Hey Tom.
It is extremely rare that going up a version INCREASES performance. In fact, I've never seen it happen. Either on the Windows OSs or the Linux ones.
Seems that every time new features are added, things only get slower.
Just read back a few weeks, you'll see nearly every post complaining about speed.
I think you just have to accept that newer means slower, but more features (or eye-candy, as the case may be).
Regards, Ed.
