<---snip---> X-Mailer: MR/2 Internet Cruiser Edition for OS/2 v1.40 From: Michael Jinks To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: recipient.list.not.shown Subject: $LD_LIBRARY_PATH? Date: Saturday, 18 April 1998 6:44AM >From the archives, I found what might be a solution to the glibc-never-compiles problem. Maybe. The problem I'm having is that source code from RH5 won't compile on an RH5 box; it always terminates with such-and-such .h file not found (even though I have copies all over my machine). Where does $CD_LIBRARY_PATH get set, what should it be, and does it have anything to do with my problem? <---snip---> FWIW I had problems trying to install StarOffice40 until I put :- LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/lib" export LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/profile (it could perhaps go in ~/.profile) I had d/l libc-5.4.44.bin.tar.gz from ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/GCC/ and after un-taring it copied the libc file into /lib, then linked it to libc.so.5. I kept getting the syntax error message mentioned in the mini-Howto: Installation of StarOffice until I did the above. I had assumed this LD_LIBRARY_PATH was something required by the StarOffice 'install' pgm but perhaps it will solve your problem if you replace "/lib" with the appropriate path. It could be that you need CD_L_P a#rather than LD_L_P. -- Using OS/2 Warp 4, Injoy and MR/2 ICE ----------------------------------------------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (John Lewis) <<< Head honcho, Dorset Rough Riders Mountain Bike Club. http://www.dorset-rough-riders.mcmail.com Races a hardtail S Works M2 in the Grand Vet category and hacks the trails on a Dawes >>> Why doesn't DOS ever say "EXCELLENT command or filename!" ----------------------------------------------------------- -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
