Your printcap should look something like this:

lp:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:\
        :rm=printer.mydomain.org:\
        :rp=portname:\
        :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:

See the printcap(5) man page for information on `rp' and `rm', and your
printer manual for any predefined settings that will be necessary to
input.

The printtool does in fact have the ability to configure a remote printer.
