You'd be better off finding a book that is written specifically for a
purpose.  The books that cover many topics are going to be general.

Perhaps the O'Reilly bash book and the vi book.  And the following shell
programming book:

UNIX Applications Programming: Mastering the Shell
Ray Swartz, ISBN 0-672-22715-0

and

UNIX Shell Programming
Kochan and Wood, ISBN 0-672-48448-X

Don't forget there is a wealth of information available by searching the
net.
