It may leave marks on your screen - what you need to do now is a 'degauss'. 
Better quality monitors have a button or menu option to degauss the screen, 
this should fix it. Lower quality monitors do a degauss on powerup, but not 
as well. In this case the marks should fade over time.

Windows 95 actually needs more :-O. The thing is it's all encoded in the 
monitor definition tables nicely for you. This works fine until you get a 
monitor which 'isn't supported' - I defy anyone with an IQ of less than 1000 
to build a custom .inf file for an unsupported monitor (well maybe a little 
exaggerated).

But what happens when there isn't a button for what you want? I want to 
switch resolutions 'live' in '95 and my video driver don't do it. That 
leaves me with two options - buy a new video card which can, or move to 
Linux. No contest ;-)
