Thanks, but that did not give me what I want...
Let me clarify... I do get ftp connections logged to /var/log/messages
and file transfers logged to /var/log/xferlog. However, only one server
is logging file deletion as follows :-
Nov 9 15:22:23 mercury ftpd[15165]: FTP LOGIN FROM 192.1.1.36
[192.1.1.36], mercury
Nov 9 15:23:08 mercury ftpd[15165]: mercury of 192.1.1.36 [192.1.1.36]
deleted
/home/mercury/cgi-users/cgi-utilities/chg_signature_util.pl
Nov 9 15:24:25 mercury ftpd[15165]: FTP session closed
On the other server, when a user connects via ftp and deletes a file,
all I get in the log is the following :-
Nov 10 15:22:23 venus ftpd[15165]: FTP LOGIN FROM 192.1.1.36
[192.1.1.36], venus
Nov 10 15:24:25 venus ftpd[15165]: FTP session closed
How do I get the system to give me logs like the former?
Thanks,
Clare
