Why 5.0?
I do this. First with 5.1, now with 6.1.

I'd go to compusa or the like, and pick up a netgear. It uses the tulip
driver. Avoid the new linksys cards.

With 6.1, kudzu will wake p and detect the card. Otherwise, just make
sure it gets detected on bootup, run linuxconf or netcfg and add the
interface (it will be eth0 for you) - you will probably be just setting it
up for dhcp. You can pretty much treat it just like you did your ppp
interface, except for the dialup part of course.
If you have more than one computer, pick up two cards, and the box will
make a lovely NAT/gatway box for you other PC(s).

as did I, but had a static IP. But, again it will behave almost
identically except you no longer need to dialup. You will still need to
setup your routes etc. I actully kept my ppp interface up during the first
few weeks of my DSL switch, to ease the transition.
