Downloaded that kernel patch from ftp.kernel.org, patched it,
recompiled,
machine dies.  If you append "pci=reverse" to LILO, it works fine, the
stock PCI IDE controller becomes IDE2 and IDE3, while the ATA66
controller becomes IDE0 and IDE1.

Not sure how to proceed, to see if it needs tweaking, but now I can get
to my CD ROM in Windows and Linux boots and runs, so all is cool.

Incidentally, I recommend a dual-processor celeron board to anyone.
