Hi,

     Even though I am not a linux expert I have recently performed the two
 kinds of installations and the workstation installation will not damage the
 windows hardrive, unless you specify that you want linux to be installed
 there. Moreover the only thing that linux do in the first hd ,is to put
lilo
 there (the windwos one) but it does not damage the windows installation in
 any way.
