My apologies if this is off-base or you've already thought of it, but
do make sure you're using the right driver for those 905's.  There are
umptyscrunch versions of that card, some of which are best handled by
native kernel modules, others which want the Linux driver which 3Com
provides.  Dig around their site for details.
