Hello Kris,
For this kind of requirement, you'll need an MTA and e-mail retrieval
service (POP3/IMAP) that is capable of tying up with a database or LDAP
directory. This will allow you to do account and domain management
through an interface (which you may have to roll out on your own) that
does the updating on the database.
The nearest open source package I can think of that somehow has all of
this integrated is qmail-ldap. Check out http://www.nrg4u.com/.
You can also check out Postfix at http://www.postfix.org/. It can do
e-mail routing based on MySQL or LDAP lookups. Postfix is known to be
as secure as qmail though much easier to install and configure.
Also, check out Perdition at
http://www.us.vergenet.net/linux/perdition/. It's an e-mail retrieval
proxy that routes your session (based on lookups) to the server where
your mailbox actually resides.
