Thanks for that and it worked. It appears that the problem
was no compiler all along. I got the modem working
temporarily with minicom before destroying the /dev
directory. I will fix that an try the modem again. There
seems to be a problem with the symlink...try to work through
that one. It is symlinking between the /dev/ttys15 file and
the /dev/modem. The modem under win98 is on com3...does that
mean I should have a symlink to ttys4 or is the ttys15 OK?
The installation instruction say ttys15. When I had it going
under minicom I had full control with hayes commands,
however, it would not setup under KPPP in the setup...it
gave "modem is busy'
When opened a command window and typed minicom it returned "
modem is locked" It the process of removing the lock I
removed the /dev directory...bugger! What it is to be a
newbie.
