Additionally, _sot_ is an expression which refers to a habitual drunk.
Both may apply, however "sod" depends on known behaviour, as opposed
to "sot", which we can only speculate on, but which might explain some
of his problems.  I suppose one could be a "besotted sod"?  8^)
