I upgraded one of my systems from 6.2 to 7.0 last weekend. After the upgrade
finished, I installed WP 8 -- which worked just fine.
I didn't think twice about it until I saw these posts. It turns out that I have
libc-5.3.12-31 on this system, probably left over from the previous 6.2 install. So
maybe installing an older rpm of libc5 (from 6.2? the build data is 16 Apr 1999) will
fix WP?
The 7.0 powertools disk has acroread (acroread-4.05-6), so installing this package
should get acroread working for you.
BTW, if anyone is thinking of installing StarOffice 5.2, I advise you to opt for SO5.1
instead. When I did the RH6.2 -> 7.0 upgrade, I decided to 'upgrade' SO5.1 to SO5.2.
Wow, what a difference: SO5.2 is noticeably bigger and slower than SO5.1, with no
additional features (that I could see). I nuked SO5.2 pretty quickly, and put SO5.1
back on the system.
