i'm getting tons of unresolved symbol errors ..you know the ones.*unresolved
symbols
with the kernel version next to it something like
* unresolved symbols....................lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0new/misc
i check for sure if you need more details i'm in windows at moment as module
for ppp becaues of *
i've tried doing my homework but to no avail all URL's with kernel-howto's
seem outdated ( june/99) and most of them mention lilo.....which i'm not using
because I have trouble with it making boot unstable so i use loadlin and copy
over vmlinuz to c:\
anyway my understanding from all urls is that one does the "ususal"
stuff..make dep, clean..blah blah
only different thing I have done and I don't know if this is reason.....is put
distinct info behind version as in: 2.2.14-50new--dont' recall name of line
but its in /usr/src//linux called makefile.....i think its like 3 or 4 lines
down from where everything starts from comment lines ........
and yes the new modules 2.2.14-50new do appear in /lib/modules but i have
noticed that the file(s) in
/boot called module-info-2.2.14-5.0 and system.map-2.2.14-50 aren't getting
updated with the "new" extention.. .........is this possibly reason i'm
getting unresolved symbols.......???? one howto does mention the system.map
file but not module-info file.......
thanks for any help
