Hi Bill,
you meantioned you were using redhat 7 no? It uses xinetd rather
that inetd which puts its config files in /etc/xinetd.conf and
/etc/xinetd.d/*. The easiest way to manipulate this stuff is with the
chkconfig command. Eg: "chkconfig chargen off". Used to be chkconfig only
manipulated stuff under /etc/rc.d/init.d so it's kinda cool improvement.
