Sorry, I don't quite understand your instructions: what is an m/c?

If I do:

root# ypcat hosts |grep belize

(belize being the nickname of one of my machines)
i get the _old_ ip address.

What I understand from 'man ypcat' is that NIS keeps a database of hosts in
/var/yp.

It seems to be in a binary format. How do I make changes to this database?

hosts: files nisplus nis dns
--snip--

So, this means that the hosts-information is first read from local /etc/hosts
file and then from the NIS database, right? I could make things go right if I
just changed everything correct in client's hosts files, but it would be
easier to maintain a single database.
