Subject: win98 and linux
|
| Hi,
|
| I am trying to install win98 , linux, and winNT in one system (20
| G) harddisk. First I installed win98, then I installed RedHat 7.0, It was
| installed successfully. But while exiting it given an warning message 2434
| cyclinders...... , so I added 'lba32' in lilo.conf. I was suprised even
| lilo.conf is written in /dev/hda (MBR stored in this disk), it is not
| prompting to choose the OS. How can I get the prompt while booting the
| system. (in lilo.conf 'prompt' is there).
|
1st install win98, then winNT, and then linux.... while installing lilo,
install it in the first sector of the hd.
| And one more problem is ofcourse, out of topic, if anyone knows please
| help me. I created the partitions as four 4.65 by using Disk Manager,
| after installing win98, linux I tried to install winNT. But it was not
| recognising the partitions properly, and asking for delete the partitions
| and recreating it. How can I overcome this....
|
winNT 4.0 does not recognize fat32 partitions, so, you will have to
repartition ur hd again... make a fat16 part. (at most 2gb) and then install
win98, then nt, and then linux..... you can't get around this w/o
repartitioning.
(when starting fdisk for win98, reply N to the first question it asks to
u -- in this way, u specify that u want a fat16 part.)
| Thanks,
| Kiran
