Try, at the boot prompt on the floppy:

linux root=/dev/hdb3

If that works, run it up, change lilo.conf, rerun lilo, done.

If not, try running the CD with a boot image, preferably a newer one from a 
download, choose expert and text, or text as a minimum, and see if that 
gets the install going.
