Actually, the motherboards are not always a set standard. I once bought
Freetech motherboard with VIA and the ports were backward did not match
the case's layout (keyboard and PS/2 mouse). When I discovered P5a from
ASUS perform better then I returned Freetech and got Asus and the ports
matches the case layout. So, of course, it is and was in the correct
port or otherwise I couldn't type anything. My new keyboard is plugged
into the same port as my old keyboard. It could either be a faulty
keyboard or it's an old AT style keyboard with an adapter to fit into
PS/2.
