Do you have a route to your gateway defined, and do you specify the
gateway?  The output of "route -n" and
"cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0" would be helpfull.
Also knowing the IP of your gateway would be nice.

Once the routing is set up correctly, then we can work on setting up
/etc/resolv.conf.
