I believe that in order to use konquerer's SMB LAN browsing, you have to 
be running a samba server on the machine (or possibly configure it to 
query a different "master browser", but I don't know about that...)

Try installing the 'samba-server' package and configuring the samba 
daemon.  Afterward, konquerer should be able to connect to localhost.
