I did that for the first 6 mnths or so after the change happened. Its been quite a while now... Maybe as far back as 6.2 or 6.1. Sometime later I saw a piece on one of redhats mailling lists that convinced me it was a good thing and a step in the right direction. Unfortunately I no longer remember what was so convincing. Maybe making it a more obvious choice in dialog while installing would be nice, but my feeling at this point is that the default should be device notation. And that no install choice be given. Well, it would be good to hear from redhat, what the proposed value of the LABEL technique is. I have seen it posted but don't remember the arguments now. I think it may have been just that it would facilitate a little more convenience at update time so that fstab wouldn't have to be changed even if new devices were actually used. Looking back since I had the problem that seems like too weak a reason now. A small convenience that could lead to a major unexpected mess.
