i was rather excited at the thought of a one line of code update of kde so i
tried it myself
i downloaded the entire kde package from one of their mirrors
cd'd into the directory and typed:

up2date kdebase
result: "there are no packages available for update"

up2date kdebase-3.0.0-2.i386.rpm  -> rendered the same result

....and i was so excited........
