Lots of people have some experience, some people have lots of experience. Unfortunately, I'm one of the former but I'll try to help. =) >I keep getting one of 2 >errors on the windows machine > >enter password for //linuxbox/IPC$ >or >\\Linuxbox is not accessable >no permission to access resource. Ok, there are a couple of things you can check here (some of which have already been mentioned). I have a similar setup and was at one point receiving a similar error. What I noticed was that the username used in windows started with a capital letter, but the name passed to the Linux box was sent all lower case. When I'd setup the users on the Linux box; I'd set them up with the first letter capitalized. So you might want to make sure that your usernames are setup correctly. Beyond that, I found the DIAGNOSIS.TXT file invaluable for troubleshooting my Samba problems There is a copy included with Samba or you can view it off their website, under "Documentation" -> "Older (but hopefully still valid) misc docs" -> "Diagnosing Samba". I'd give a direction link to the doc but they've got bunches of mirrors and you should select the mirror closest to you for optimal connection.
