RH 8.0 doesn't want to install: Processor Athlon XP 1900+ stepping 02 Board: ECS Elitegroup K7VMM, VIA KM266 chipset
While booting from the RH 8.0 - CD 1, the kernel hangs after the following message: CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1900+ stepping 02 Enabling fast FPU save and restore... done. Enabling unmasked SIMD FPU exception support... done. Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK. Checking for popad bug... OK POSIX conformance testing by UNIFIX enabled ExtINT on CPU#0 ESR value before enabling vector: 00000002 The kernel just hangs, no panic, no oops. Same with Debian (bf24 - kernel 2.4.18). My first thought was power-management, but no change after disabling it.
